Virtual Sports Day
Welcome to the St Bernadette’s Virtual sports day!
We have designed 8 events for you, these can be done at home, in a garden, the park or anywhere that is currently safe to do so. Please make sure you are adhering to all government guidelines and practice social distancing when necessary.
All events will win you points towards your house teams final score so make sure you try your very best and give maximum effort for all the events.
In each event you will receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. A Bronze award gets you 25 points for your team, a silver award gets you 50 points for your team and a gold award gets you 100 points for your team. Some events are timed for 30 seconds so you will need someone to help you do the timing.
All events have a video demonstration (right) so please make sure you have watched that before you start.
Please also find above a scoresheet, please use this to record your score for each event. This can then be sent to george@plaype.co.uk and that way we can work out all the scores for each house group.
Event number 1 - Squat Thrusts
See how many squat thrusts you can do in 30 seconds.
Rules – Lay down flat on your belly, use a marker of some sort to mark where your hips are. Keeping your hands on the floor you must bring both feet over the marker and back again. Every time your feet reach their starting point that counts as 1 rep.
Bronze – More than 15 reps
Silver – More than 25 reps
Gold – More than 35 Reps
Event number 2 – Standing long jump
See how far you can jump from 2 feet and landing on 2 feet, no run ups allowed!
Rules – Set a line to jump from, this can be marked out in any way you like. You must jump with 2 feet and land on 2 feet. Your jump is measured from the line to the back of your foot. To measure your jump, take one of your shoes and see how many shoe lengths you have jumped.
Bronze – More than 3 Shoes
Silver – More than 5 Shoes
Gold – More than 7 Shoes
Event number 3 – Speed Bounce
See how many times you can bounce over an object in 30 seconds. 2 feet must land either side for the bounce to count!
Rules – Find something you can bounce over, this can be anything you like. You must jump with 2 feet and land on 2 feet. Every time you go over the object this is counted as 1 bounce, see how many bounces you can do in 30 seconds.
Bronze – More than 15 Bounces
Silver – More than 25 Bounces
Gold – More than 35 Bounces
Event number 4 – Stork Stand
See how long you can balance standing on 1 foot. Wobbling is allowed, touching the floor with anything other than 1 foot is not.
Rules – Have someone time you to see how long you can stand on 1 foot, when the other foot touches the floor the timer stops. Try both feet and see which one is best for balancing!
Bronze – More than 10 Seconds
Silver – More than 20 Seconds
Gold – More than 30 Seconds
Event number 5 – Target Throwing
See how many objects you can throw into your target in 30 seconds.
Rules – You can use any objects to throw and any target you like, you are only allowed 3 objects to throw. You throw all 3 objects and then have to run to the target and collect them and try again, keep going for 30 seconds! Make sure you stay 3m away from the target when you are throwing.
Bronze – 3 Shots on target
Silver – 5 Shots on target
Gold – 8+ Shots on target
Event number 6 – Head Balance Race
Find something to balance on your head and complete 3 shuttles of 3m in the fastest time possible.
Rules – Set up 2 markers 3m apart, start at 1 side and go around the marker the other side. Do this 3 times in the quickest time possible. If your object falls off your head you must stop where you are and put it back on your head. You cannot move until it is back on your head.
Bronze – Under 40 Seconds
Silver – Under 30 Seconds
Gold – Under 20 Seconds
Event number 7 – Shuttle Runs
Put 2 markers 3m apart. Run between the 2 markers as many times as you can in 30 seconds.
Rules – Use anything you like for the markers. You must touch the marker with your hand for it to count.
Bronze – Over 10 touches
Silver – Over 20 touches
Gold – Over 30 touches
Event number 8 – Hopping Race
Put 2 markers 3m apart. Hop between the 2 markers as many times as you can in 30 seconds.
Rules – Use anything you like for the markers. You must change the leg you are hopping on as you go round the marker. Every time you go round the marker this counts as 1 ‘pass’
Bronze – Over 5 Passes
Silver – Over 7 Passes
Gold – Over 10 Passes
